THINGS TO SEE IN BERN
1. The clock tower
This is the oldest building in Bern, still stands today, was the city’s first gate, and is one of the famous landmarks in Bern. More than 800 years later, you can still watch the clockwork figures perform every hour and admire the intricate clock face which was added in 1530.
2. Go see Albert Einstein's House
and get a glimpse of where he developed his Theory of relativity. It is just 200 meters from the Clock Tower (Zytglogge)
3. Bern Cathedral
The Bern Münster Cathedral of St. Vincent is the most impressive late-
Gothic building in the city and the largest and most important late medieval church in
Switzerland. From this highest church tower in Switzerland, climb up the 312 steps and
enjoy the magnificent view across the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site and – on a
fine day – enjoy the breathtaking view of the Bernese alps with the peaks of the Eiger,
Mönch and Jungfrau!
4. Bundeshaus
The Swiss Parliament House is the seat of one of the world’s first modern democracies and is located in the capital, Bern. Although the Bundeshaus is Switzerland’s seat of government, it also offers a range of entertainment and event opportunities for locals and visitors alike.
5. Bern Bear Park
The Bern bear pit is an attraction known far beyond Switzerland's borders. Since 2009 the bears of Bern also have a modern 6,000 square meters park at their disposal - which they can reach via a tunnel.
6. Gurtenbahn
Take the funicular Gurtenbahn and go up to Gurten. Gurten is a traffic-free outdoor leisure area developed in 1999, and at 858m, you get splendid views over Bern. You can also see the alps from the observation tower. There are restaurants, a play area for children, and hiking and biking trails up here
7. The Rose Garden
The Rose Garden is an excellent destination for flower lovers and a great place to unwind. It features a restaurant in a prime location and a fantastic view of Bern.
So there you have it, guys, my one-day Bern itinerary in case you plan to visit this old and beautiful city of Bern in west-central Switzerland.
